Grooming Procedures All carried out with care & kindness
Bathing
We stock a wide range of quality shampoos and conditioners to help most canine coat conditions such as fleas or dry, flaky skin.
Our pumped bathing system is eco friendly because less water and shampoo are used and it also has a gentle massage effect which the dogs seem to like. Our special showerhead supplies far infra red rays and negative ions both are beneficial to the skin.
Blo Drying
Most dogs are initially dried in the bath with a high speed air drier that removes most of the water and any loose coat. Then depending on coat type and your dogs preference we would continue the drying process in a temperature controlled drying cabinet [most dogs love this] or straighten the coat wth a stream of warm air whilst brushing.
Clipping
We can achieve some lovely finishes on coats with different clipping techniques.
Scissoring
The three SSS,s are important here.
Skill - Style - Sharpness. Sorry make that four, we want your dog to look superb.
Hand Stripping
This method of hair removal is generally preferred for wire coated breeds because it helps to retain the vibrant colour and texture of the coat. Some gundogs with silky coats can also benefit from having dead hair removed in this fashion.
Ear Cleaning & Plucking
This service is included as part of a full groom. Not all dogs need to have their ear hair removed. In those that do, it can be achieved painlessly by applying a special powder and removing only a few hairs at a time either with forceps or finger and thumb.
Toenail Cutting
This is also included as part of a full groom.
Anal Glands
These glands situated by the dogs anus usually empty naturally. One sign that this has not happened is your dog scooting along the ground on his bottom! We will empty them on request.
Teeth Cleaning
Sadly canine gnashers are often ignored until bad breath, drooling or chewing problems occur. Dogs like humans need to have their teeth cleaned regularly. We stock products that will help to keep them clean and run anaesthesia free ultra sonic teeth cleaning sessions. [very similar to your own experience with the hygienist].
